I just saw a showing of this directly after seeing Happy Death Day 2U, and this movie reminded me of a mix of Happy Death Day, The Good Place, and Freaky Friday.

And it was super fun. I was unsure about this one going in, but it's quirky, funny, and clever. It's nothing groundbreaking - you will likely guess the ending within 15 minutes of the movie starting, but that doesn't make it any less enjoyable to watch. At 88 minutes, it never has the chance to overstay its welcome.

You'll smile throughout most of it, and Rebel Wilson and Brandon Scott Jones' acting are on point here.

Overall, if you're looking something goofy and fun with some heart, this is a good choice.

Loved this film. A Thousand Miles is the rom-com anthem. I thought it was hilarious at how the film depicted every trope of stereotypical romance movies and threw it right back at you. Appreciated that Natalie didn’t work in publication ;)

Thought it was fantastic that Liam kept his Australian accent during the flipped role because MOST male leads in these come as the ethnic white guy 😂

It was so much better than I thought it would be. The sound track was great too. Would highly recommend.

level 1

Loved this movie. Brandon Scott Jones is gonna get a lot of work after this. Guy doesn’t even have a Wikipedia page and stole the movie

The When Harry Met Sally orgasm bit was incredible and was Liam Hemsworth doing a bad Australian accent or does his accent always sound like that?

level 2

Who was he playing? And Liam HEmsworth's "bad" accent is his legit accent

level 3

Donnie the gay best friend. And really? He sounded like a server in an Outback Steakhouse commercial

I probably wasn’t supposed to cry at the end when Josh sat Natalie at his desk to show her who he was really looking at, but I did anyway. Would definitely see again.

Edit: cry more than just a single tear at the end*

Was a lot a better than I expected! funny as hell!

I let my wife choose because she was paying (I was leaning more towards Lego Movie 2 or Alita) but she picked this movie, and we had free tickets. Needless to say, I oddly liked it. I was laughing throughout the whole movie, and Adam Devine/Rebel Wilson have really good chemistry.

level 2

Your wife was paying and you had free tickets. I’m confused.

level 3

He saw the movie alone

A lot of the funniest parts were in the trailer, but I still loved the movie and was smiling like an idiot the whole time.

Hilarious and so damn charming! Seriously, i had the biggest smile on my face during this through the end. It should have great legs(I hope)

level 1

I loved how this movie reappropriated classic lines from rom-coms but I think my favorite would have to be “you had me at hello...copter.”

level 1

It was okay, Chris really is the superior Hemsworth

level 2

Chris is far more beguiling.

Yep. Chris humor > Liam humor

or Chris Humorsworth > Liam Humorsworth

level 4

At the very least we can all agree that the least funny Hemsworth is Larry. I feel bad for that guy.

level 5

Not to mention, he barely has an 8 pack!

level 1

I liked it, there were a few parts that dragged but it was good overall. Wilson and Devine’s chemistry is spectacular though, you can practically feel the change in the air with every scene the two share.

level 1

How does this compare to They Came Together? It seems like a very similar concept. I'm sure the jokes in this are a lot more straightforward and cliché, I'm guessing?

level 2

Yeah. Whereas They Came Together took cliches and did something unexpected or surreal with them, this mostly consists of recognizing rom com cliches and calling them out.

level 1

In the trailer, you can see she's facing forward for at least a full second before she runs into the post that causes the head injury and triggers the movie's alternate reality:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8ZwgoVmILQU

So, in-universe, the obvious explanation is that despite all of her carping about romantic comedies, she secretly wanted to inhabit that world, so she triggered the events on purpose.

level 2

why'd you get downvoted for this?
