One of those "I forgot this was VR!" moments (Farpoint)

Near the end of the campaign (no spoilers) I was hiding behind some cover and there were four aliens in front of me. Everytime I popped out and took aim I was taking far too much damage. Just couldn't figure it out.

Then I remembered - this is VR. I don't HAVE to pop out - my arms (and the gun attached to them!) can be moved independently. So I switched to the assault rifle and blindfired all four of those aliens until they were a pile of sticky goo.

It felt amazing remembering that the limits of traditional, 2D FPS games don't apply, and that I can solve problems in ways that simply aren't possible in most FPS games.

Has anyone else experienced moments like this in Farpoint or anything else?

That's really what I'm looking for with VR... to really "get lost" in a game.

I used to be able to do this as a kid, even with some of the primitive graphics of the NES and SNES era, I felt my imagination running away with the games.

So I'm hoping VR can spark that again for me.

LSD in VR is what you're looking for

Polybius becomes life

level 3

I didn’t see any LSD in the PSN store but I’m totally down for that. Wish I could ask me twenty years ago to keep in touch with someone in the future for exactly this reason, lol.

Sometimes I'll be looking at objects in game and just physically reach out as if to touch them. Knowing full well I can't, their physical location is just so convincing! Being immersed and inside of these game worlds is not something I'd ever imagine was possible, until loading up that first underwater decent game in VR worlds. Blown away.

Yeah, this is especially bad in games that don't have Move support or don't show the controller hovering around in front of you. I want to just reach out to grab something and expect at least my hands to show up in the headset. :)

Tried to set the AIM controller on the virtual desk in FarPoint.... opppssss as it dropped to the floor :)

My cat instinctively sits on me during last guardian (pancake version)...when he did it during the VR demo, I lost my shit petting trico and feeling him purr IRL...they should bundle last guardian VR with rescue cats

Something similar. There's a section (I'm still early on in the campaign) where you walk through this valley filled with what look like glowing egg sacs. I'm afraid they're going to hatch so I'm shooting them all, but there are some behind some rocks in an area I can't reach. I can just see the tops of them but can't really aim at them.

Then I remember I can lift my gun up high and point it down over the rocks to get them. Happy there's no ammunition limits on the assault rifle!

There were a LOT of egg sacs to shoot in that level...

I shot everyone I saw too, I was hoping for an obscure trophy. Oh well.

Not like this, but I put my father in Job Sim and he tried to lean on the desk in office worker like he does at his work and almost fell out of his chair. It was glorious.

level 2

I did that with the title screen in Batman when I first got it. I tried to lean on the railing and almost fell.

I seriously thought I was falling off a building for a brief second.

Farpoint for me, noticed my shadow on the ground and tried waving. ‘Oh shit yeah....’ and the wife is still taking the piss out of me for that one

To be fair, we’re probably not too far away from tech that’ll make this work.

level 3

it probably is possible currently (with ps camera). it would be kinda buggy (showing background) but still could maybe work

Lol small spoiler but I Expect You To Die.. I let a friend try the first mission and at one point it asks for retinal scan, you fail and it initiates a laser.. He died about 5 or 6 times before realising.. All he had to do was move out of its way!! Haha I of course knew but was having far too much fun laughing at their frustration!!

I had the opposite experience. I died like 5 or 6 times at that part trying to get closer thinking all I needed to do was scan my eye. Finally figured it out and felt dumb. Then I had a friend play and he dodged it first try. Made me feel even dumber ha.

Hahaha those moments are always painful when you finally realise all duuh! But overall a great game.. The submarine pod was my nemesis, I like the more laid back nature of some of the other scenarios but that one was just constant..

Yeah I agree. One of my favorite vr games despite the length. Awesome intro

I almost forget how much I enjoyed the intro until someone mentions it!

My wife was playing Mortal Blitz and taking cover on some boxes, crouching behind them.

To get up, she tried to use theses boxes as support, and almost fell down. :P

I've tried to lean on or touch objects in VR so many times... at this point it doesn't even phase me anymore! It's just like "Oh yeah right, VR..." and I move on. LOL
