Really enjoyed the Mod AMA. Cool idea

level 2

I second this.

I think that making this a regular thing might help build the relationship between the mods and community.

We've done some talking, and we've agreed that doing a mod AMA the weekend before Speedweeks would be a good way to kick off the season every year. Get us back into season mode, and let people get to know us more as people, rather than as a bunch of bots who hate memes

level 4

I’ve see a lot of anti mod posts.

Personally I’ve never had an issue with any of you, occasionally something has been deleted but I usually also receive a reason why.

I try to defend the Mods because I’ve seen the stuff you all do, and I’ve gotten to know a few of you a little bit over the years (this isn’t my first account, the username is very accurate).

But when I saw that AMA I got really excited. Stuff like that is really gonna help out a face on the mod team, and especially with the user base growing so much, knowing the Mods a little bit as people instead of just as “the Mods” is huge in making sure the community stays feeling like a community and not just a generic forum with 100k+ members.

Keep it up yall. Trolls will be trolls, don’t let it get you down. You’re just one of us fans in the end.

level 5

I can't speak for the other mods but this is the exact reason why I was on board with the mod AMA. I know we're the ones who make the decisions here (to an extent) so we're seen constantly trying to keep this sub running smoothly and then just kinda vanishing in the dark shadows of modmail. That AMA gave us a chance to show who we are, what we do and don't like, some of our thoughts, all while staying fairly anonymous.

Only reason it took us so long to finally agree on it was because we're not really that special of guests here. Some seen it (yes, the snotty reports were laughed at) as a way for us to steal the spotlight and we didn't want to do that. Our egos would explode, we would have a greater sense of power, or whatever stupid reason some would come up with. But, I can say that I'm glad we did it because it's been mostly positive remarks for it.

level 6

Oh man I wish you had posted the reports.

level 7

They were pretty much the examples given, "large egos?" and the sort. Basic insults that are more insulting to the reporter than us.

We do make mistakes sometimes, but we're only human, and it usually gets brought up among the mods and we try to ensure those mistakes don't happen again.

Think about the human on the other side of the screen, man. Goes both ways, gotta remember we're all human.

Agreed, I think I'd like to see another one like quarterly or something like that. Y'all have to be fair and impartial to a lot of things and I'm quite sure you guys also have opinions about the sport as well.

Wish I had seen that sooner, reading through the AMA brought back so many good memories.

level 3

you just gotta show up more period, man. Miss seeing you around here.

Yeah, I definitely need to do better! I miss being here.

We need to make a rule. No more videos for car schemes. Just photos. I hope this is a trend that dies soon.

They are just as bad as those news articles that we have to keep hitting "next" on!

If you want to post a screenshot of a new scheme that came from a video and post a link to said video in the comments...

level 3

Hendrick Motorsports always uploading videos of schemes running each week is really freaking annoying, so I always check the comments for screenshots. Not exactly fun but having a source and knowing it's legit is better than guessing if it's real or not.

level 4

I've noticed more teams going to video for reveals too and it's annoying.

level 5

SHR on Facebook shows all 4 schemes at once in a single picture. They'll occasionally make a video render of a special scheme but not all the time. Other teams could learn from them.

You’re on, I’d be happy to help. I did that with the Auto-Owners car and had a source but was taken down.

Iirc with that one, the video had already been posted, so it fell under that. But the source absolutely must be in the comments almost instantly after.

I think someone just beat me to it but no big deal. I just want to make it easier for me and everyone else and maybe have the video in the comments?
