I loved Nurse on the powerplay, if there was ever a silver lining to losing Klefbom for a bit, it was getting Nurse some practice and poise.
He exploded offensively man, it was great to see.
Gives us two great options on the PP now and we still have Bouch coming. Also means we actually have a couple D that can score which used to only be Klef and no one else so that's nice.
Does anybody know the popeyes password?
Russell took a beating last night but it barely phased him and I loved the response from Kass. Oh and rattie was flying yesterday. We gotta show more grit for the remainder of season
Loved Kassian-Khaira-Lucic last night.
Old time "big, hard, don't fuck with us" line.
If Luc could refind his scoring touch, it'd be a hell of a 3rd line.
I don't think they're showcasing Cam. I think they just want to win and Hitchcock feels he's their best option because Koskinen hasn't been good for awhile now.
Which of course brings up all kinds of issues.
I like the call by Hitch. Talbs was not happy after the last 3rd period meltdown. That was a show of trust in his goalie to let him rebound.
With Klef back in the lineup I think you'll quickly see both goalies improve their numbers. Taking pressure off Nurse will make him better in a second pairing role. Larsson is also better with Klef there too.
Klefbom was 5th in Ice time in the NHL, you take a #1 d-man away from a goalie like that and their numbers are going to crater.
I know there is a lot of naysayers, but I think Sekera will help the d core even more and take pressure off Russell and Benning as well.
Koskinen at $4.5 is definitely a risky move, but I think we'll be alright...
We'll probably see him against San Jose.
As long as sekera is close to healthy and in shape, hes a big upgrade over the guy he replaces. It's just his contract that's an issue
Exactly, Talbot and Koski have fairly similar save percentages and GAA's. Goalie play depends heavily on the play of the defense in front of them. To me, they both allow about the same frequency of soft goals, which isn't very high, and both save about the same frequency of clutch saves.
If we can get our defensive play straight, Kosk and Talbs are very similar, strong options IMO
is this who the oilers are now? can we expect this kind of effort for the rest of the season? stay tuned for the next nail-biting episode of who the fck is this team!
solid win though, needed that for the sake of my sanity
Not to be negative, but I personally find it impossible to say who the Oilers are now. We could win 5-1, lose 5-1, or go to OT tied at 1 against the Sharks and none of those outcomes would surprise me. Actually a 5-1 win would surprise me in an awesome way. But no, they’ve not played consistently enough to have created any identity much less make it easy to know what to expect. That said, I’m not actually mad about it! I’m excited and curious to see how the season will end but am resisting any sort of ‘if we go on a 5-game run...’ talk.
yeah, no doubt! still reels a bit like we're in this teething period. still a fairly young core and sure the roster could be better. probably waaay better. still nice to see what happens when they maintain focus for a whole game.
I feel like we say this at least once a month after a bad stretch
Should probably stop having those monthly bad stretches.
one can dream I guess
It’s a shame for the rest of the league that kucherov only has a point lead on 97. This scoring race is not going to be exciting at all. Maybe 97 just starts potting goals so we can see him catch OV?
He'll keep feeding 29 to catch ovi
It just makes me so happy that Gaudreau has fallen back behind McDaddy. The fLames were above average insufferable for a bit there.
The fact that Tkachuk is doing so well irks me the wrong way
