Definitions of insanity:
watching the Edmonton Oilers attempting to defend a lead in the 3rd period
watching Hitch play Russell in OT and expecting something good to come from it
On second thought...
watching the Edmonton Oilers
To the boys credit, both games were afternoon games and we all know we have a shitty record in those games. Possible 2/4 points is better than 0. But that’s 5 straight games lost we need to go on a run starting Tuesday night.
A live look in at the the city sanding Edmonton streets.
Didn't catch the game but caught the recap and the thread here. From the comments it sure seems like it was a dumpster fire but I thought the boys looked good. Tell me why i'm wrong.
this board is full of whiners
You're not wrong at all. Objectively, those two games were the best the Oilers have played in weeks. They played with good energy and were the harder working team for the bulk of both games. Results will come if they continue to play like that.
I thought the oilers played really well in both games. Absolutely dominant 5on5 against philly and I liked their 3rd period yesterday as well. One unfortunately goal that even Hitch uncharacteristically called Koskinen out on.
Obviously there’s some issues still but there is something to build on.
In terms of 3on3, having Klefbom back changes the dynamic significantly. It means nurse can play line 2 minutes in OT and Russell doesn’t need to get roasted for being put in a position that’s tough for him to handle.
I think Hitch is very strategic, knows how to motivate Koskinen and he knows that calling him out this way will light a fire under him. Kosk has been playing rather mediocre as of late and I trust Hitch knows what he's doing.
Yeah Kosk shouldn't have let that in. Our 3rd against Philly was bad, and was the reason we lost and slowed down but against the Habs I thought we did better, not great but better. Our first 2 periods in both games have been good we just need to focus on closing out.
It was a fun game tbh. Had a little chippiness but didn’t subtract too much from the play.
I think the reffing was a little poor, and they called Drai for a dive that nobody thought he did as he was tripped on a two on one with mcdavid. I saw a few missed calls but could be homer syndrome.
Other than that it wasn’t bad.
People are just mad about how OT ended up mostly. We should have had it and it seemed a coaching faux pas to put in a few players that shouldn’t have been there.
You are not wrong. I think it is important to realize that these loses are giving us points. Yes we could have not made mistakes and turned those losses into wins. Given how they were playing before the break there is a significant improvement. Firing the general manager does not somehow make them a fantastic team overnight so I do not know why some people continue to rip the team every chance they get. If we win more than we lose from here on out there is a good chance of making the playoffs, even if we got lucky.
The boys played well in both games. Once Klef gets back games decided by one goal or OT will start trending in our favor, just like in 16'-17'. Once Klef gets back, our goaltending will improve as well.
The fact that we are still only 3 points out of a playoff spot blows my mind.
If we accidentally start winning that'd be great.
Thank you for telling me. I was to afraid to look
Anyone impressed by Lucic's game? I didn't catch the 1st, but he was making some good zone entrys. Even got a good pass to Rattie for a breakway.
A GOOD PASS TO RATTIE? DID YOU SEE WHERE IT WENT? IT WAS IN HIS SKATES!!! how the fuck does this guy get credit for doing what 12 year old kids should be able to do
I really do think he's been playing well on the 1st line. He has been good on the forecheck and has actually been winning battles and getting pucks to the net, causing disruptions. Hopefully we are getting the guy we wanted when we signed him back
Bobble pass into ratties sakes lol. Luccc did look decent out there though. I'm Rooting for the guy
he still can't pass to save his life. more times than not, the play dies on his stick.
Yeah I think fans are looking for any reason to cheer for this 6 million dollar toaster.
And then down vote the people being realistic and unfortunately we have to cheer on something because we're stuck with him whether we like it or not
We could get rid of it easily. But nobody wants to get their hands dirty.
The problem with this hockey club is that they have no ingenuity. They don’t exhaust resources, and their egos make them think that they only have one or two choices. They stop when someone says they can’t, and we never get what we could.
Please. Describe to us this "easily" you've mentioned...
If people can’t think of at least one way to get someone to waive a NTC, they’re as bad as this management system.
